The 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar coin is the most sought after of the Kennedy Half Dollars. Back in 1964 for U.S. Mint struck this coin in 90% silver to commemorate the memorial of John F. Kennedy. As soon as the U.S. Mint released them they were bought and hoarded by collectors. Subsequent releases by the U.S. Mint were also met with hoarders and collectors, and the coin failed to make it into circulation in the monetary market. Then, the price of silver went up, and the silver value of the coin far exceeds its face value. Many of the Kennedy Half dollars are believed to have been melted down. The Kennedy Half Dollar coins has an excellent silver value as well as numismatic value.
