Wetterlings make some of the finest hand-made, hand-forged axes known to date. The axe head measures 6 ½ inches across and enjoys a 3 ½ inch cutting edge. They hand-forge a proprietary blend of Swedish steel which has been alloyed from Silicon, Iron, Carbon, Vanadium and Manganese.
Through repeated blows, the hand forging occurs which ultimately ensures that these axes are very high quality. In fact they enjoy a Rockwell hardness rating of 57-58 once they have been ground, hardened and tempered so prepare to be impressed. These axe heads are actually stronger than drop forged edges.
The axe head is only one part of the solution. The handle is beautiful Hickory wood which offers great strength qualities as well as a lanyard hole for carrying when not being used. There is even a leather blade cover included with your purchase.
Overall this Wetterlings forest axe measures 25 ½ inches and weighs 3.3 pounds.
