For more than 125 years of uninterrupted use, the family forge set up by Otto Wetterling with the assistance of his brother Svel Axel Wetterlings, named the S.A. Wetterlings Manufaktur (S.A.W.) has provided some of the finest steel axes known to man for a wide variety of specific uses.

This particular model is hand forged using Swedish steel which has been made using iron, carbon, silicon, manganese and vanadium. It features a Rockwell hardness of 57-58 which is great from a hand forged axe.

The handles are made using Americon Hickery and machined lathed for the most comfortable design, which also includes a useful lanyard hole. Hickory is superb for dealing with stresses. This SAW16H Wetterlings measures 15 inches overall and has a 6 inch axe head with a decent 3 ¼ inch cutting edge. The overall weight of the head is 1.55 pounds. Comes with a leather blade cover (no belt loop).
